COLONIAL MEXICO

ITINERARY

Day 1 

Flight to Mexico. Arrival in Mexico City. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and accommodation. 

Day 2   

Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Mexico City beginning by the colonial side, visiting the majestic Presidential Palace and downtown, Plaza de Armas. Afterwards we visit one of the most famous museums in the world, the Museum of History and Anthropology where we can see objects from prehispanic times. In the afternoon we take a boat ride through the ancient canals of Xochimilco, listening to mariachi and tasting tequila, the national drink of México. Dinner and accommodation.  

Day 3 

After breakfast visit the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the most important center of peregrinations in America. We continue our trip to the famous pyramids of Teotihuacan, where we visit the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Moon, the Temple of Quetzalcoatl. We have dinner in the area, and in the evening, we return to the hotel. Accommodation.  

Day 4. 

Breakfast. Travel through volcanic scenery to the most hispanic city of Mexico, Puebla. We visit the historical center, the Cathedral and the church of Saint Dominic. Later we return to Mexico City visiting the Pyramid of Cholula, a symbol of the religious conquest of Mexico, and the scenic village church in Tonantzintla. Return to Mexico City for dinner and Accommodation. 

Day 5 

Breakfast. Visit to the old capital of the Toltec civilization, the city of Tula with the famous statues of the Atlantas. Transfer to Queretaro and walk around the old town, visit the monastery of St. Cross. Dinner and overnight in San Miguel Allende. 

Day 6 

Breakfast. A stroll through the picturesque streets of San Miguel Allende, visiting the reserve with numerous species of cactus, among others. Travel to Guanajuato, walk through the colonial streets of this unique city. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 7

Breakfast. Transfer to Patzcuaro. Boat trip to the island of Janitzio with a statue of Jose Morelos towering over the lake. Walk through the beautiful squares of the charming town Patzcuaro. Free time for shopping at the numerous bazaars with folk products. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 8

Breakfast. In the early morning, we go on a horse-riding trip to the lava flooded village of San Juan near the volcano Paricutin. Walk through the ruins of the church, where the altar has been miraculously preserved. Return to Patzcuaro. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 9

Breakfast. A short stop in the colonial Morelia and a stroll through the baroque center visiting the cathedral. Transfer to the colonial town of Taxco, famous for its silver jewelry. Dinner and overnight.  

Day 10

Breakfast. Stroll to discover the beautiful streets and plazas and visit the baroque jewel the Church of Santa Prisca and Saint Sebastian. Free time to explore and shop in the silver workshops. Early afternoon travel to the famous resort  Acapulco on the Pacific coast. Leisure time on the beach. All-inclusive hotel. 

Day 11 

Acapulco - all inclusive. Leisure time on the beach. Optional excursion. 

Day 12 

Acapulco - all inclusive. Leisure time on the beach. Optional excursion. 

Day 13 

Breakfast. We enjoy the last moments on the beach and return to Mexico City. Transfer to the airport and flight back home.
