DISCOVERING THE SECRETS OF THE INCA IN PERU AND BOLIVIA

 ITINERARY

Day 1

Arrival to Lima. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 2 

Breakfast. Tour of the colonial center of Lima, the Old Town, Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the monastery and church of Santo Domingo, and the building of the Main Post Office. Afternoon visit of the Gold Museum, where we find the largest collection of gold artifacts in the world. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 3 

Early morning ride to Paracas. Breakfast. Boat trip to the Ballestas Islands, admiring the Humboldt penguins, seals, sea lions, and wild birds. Transfer to the Huacachina oasis to have a short stop. Continue to Nazca. Optional flight over the Nazca lines: giant geometric patterns and drawings engraved on the plateau (approx. 100 USD) Dinner and overnight.

Day 4 

Breakfast. Ride through a beautiful road crossing desert and mountain areas to Arequipa. On the way, observe two geometric figures visible from the outlook platform. Short stop at the Inca port for leisure and a refreshing swim. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 5 

Breakfast. Stroll through Arequipa called, the white city. Visiting the Plaza de Armas, the marvelous Cathedral, the magnificent paintings in the Jesuit church, the Museum of Andean Sanctuaries with the famous mummy of Juanita and the huge Monastery of Saint Catherine. Transfer to Chivay in the Andes. Dinner and overnight.  

Day 6 

Breakfast. Early morning ride through the Andean villages to Colca Canyon - the deepest canyon in the world. Visit the Cross Condor Overlook, to enjoy the amazing views the world's largest flying birds, the condors, called kings of the Andes. Return to Chivay, leisure time in the hot springs. Ride near the Mismi volcano, where the Amazon originates, to Puno. On the way, observe the vicuna and alpaca grazing in the Salina National Park. Dinner and overnight in Puno. 

Day 7 

Breakfast. Tour of the central square and visit the cathedral. Sail in the waters of the world's highest navigable lake - Titicaca. Visit the Uros islands (made of reed), and explore the life and customs of the indigenous people from the Aymara language group. Cross of the border with Bolivia. Arrival to Copacabana. Visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Candelaria. Dinner and overnight. 

Day 8 

Breakfast. Sail again through the Titicaca Lake, to the Island of the Sun. Walk around this island full of charms and surprising landscapes, visiting the remains of Inca buildings. Transfer to the capital of Bolivia, La Paz. Dinner and overnight.

Day 9 

Breakfast. City tour of La Paz, visiting Murillo square, Cathedral, Franciscan church, the witches market -  where a variety of souvenirs can be bought, as well as bizarre substances and mixtures recommended by local shamans. Ride to the lunar valley. On the way to Peru, visit one of the oldest pre-Columbian towns in America - Tiahuanaco with the famous Gate of the Sun. Cross the border and transfer to Puno. Dinner and overnight.

Day 10 

Breakfast. Visit the tomb towers in Sillustani. And continue the road towards Cusco. On the way, stop at Racchi, where the Temple of God Viracocha is located. Dinner and overnight in Cusco.  

Day 11 

Breakfast. Tour of the ancient capital of the Inca empire, Cusco. Stroll through the colonial center, visiting the Cathedral, Plaza de Armas, Coricancha (Temple of the Sun). Visit the nearby Inca ruins: Qenqo, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the Sacsayhuaman fortress. Folkloric evening with dinner.

Day 12

Breakfast. Visit of the Holy Urubamba Valley. Ride to the ruins of Pisac city and  visit the market. Free time to buy souvenirs. Visit the ruins at Ollantaytambo. Dinner and overnight in Cusco. 

Day 13 

Breakfast. Early morning ride on the Backpacker train to one of the most magical places in the world - the ruins of the lost city of the Incas Machu Picchu. Return by train to Cusco.

Day 14

Breakfast. Visit to the pre-Columbian city of Pachacamac built in the desert. Return to Lima and transfer to the airport.
